Heidialm- Falkert ski area, AustriaHeidialm ski park – Falkert is at 1700 to 2300 metres and has 12 km of slopes and 5 lifts, although one of those lifts is a carpet lift for kids and beginners and the other is a drag lift that is not connected to the main ski area. It is billed as being a family friendly, snow sure little ski resort, although when we visited, it resembled typical ski-ing in Scotland on a poor snow year with grassy tufts and mud showing through everywhere.

There is one long steep drag lift leading to a black run and when adequate snow, an off-piste trail through the valley. Another T-bar takes you to the top of 2 red runs, although only one had minimal snow cover on when we visited. A small button lift services the blue run and then there is another drag lift further down in the village, but this was not in use when we were there. Somewhere, there is apparently a snow park for snowboarders, but with very little snow on our visit, this did not seem to be in existence.

Heidialm- Falkert ski area, AustriaHeidialm is a strange little place, a 20 minute drive from Badkleinkirchheim up a windy road to a collection of chalets and a couple of hotels. There did not seem much in the way of shops or restaurants, except for the main one at the bottom of the lifts to the side of the car park.

However, we could see the attraction for families at Heidialm, as its a small self-contained ski area and if there was more snow, the off piste would probably be very good as its mainly one open bowl, coming down to where the lifts go from and where the car park is. But with adult ski passes selling at 29 Euros for a day, it makes it fairly expensive per kilometre of ski runs available, compared to larger ski areas like Nassfeld and Badkleinkirchheim.

We spent an hour and half ski-ing the three runs that were open and walking the dogs, more time was probably spent walking the dogs though.
