Hochwild ski resortThe Hochrindl ski area is a short drive from Badkleinkirchheim and is a lovely small resort. There are three parts to the area, Hochrindl-Alpl, Hochrindl-Keger and where the main car park is at Hochrindl. There are 20 km of pistes and 7 lifts. Its not that high ranging from around 1500 m to 1800 m above sea level, but even with poor snow conditions, the pistes had been kept in good condition and it was a very pretty area, with runs amongst the trees.

We parked at the base of the main hub at Hochrindl, again there was plenty of free parking. We had already ski’ed Falkert in the morning so fancied a quick snack. We headed to the small shop on the edge of the car park and were a little disgruntled to have to pay 5 Euros for two rather stale pretzels, especially as we pay around 40 cents per pretzel for freshly baked ones in our local Hoffer!

Hochrindl Mountain HutWe then headed up one of the drag lifts and back down again, up the other drag lift and down the other side of the mountain towards Hochrindl-Kegel. From there we could work our way over to Hochrindl-Alpl, where a fairly steep T-bar takes you to the top of a long red run down. A chairlift takes you back up to the top and we discovered a great little mountain hut which served fantastic Gluhwein.

Its a great little resort and well worth a visit. You could easily spend a day or two here, cruising the runs and playing in the trees.
